A Leaf’s Faithful Obedience

Like sparkling diamonds the sun’s light
Reflected off the leaves of the trees
And as the wind blew,
The leaves shook
Like the symbols within a tambourine

And what no tree could hide, where the dessert like hills
Build up like mountains, solid, peaceful, and still

The wind and leaves made a calming sound
Like falling waters from far away
And you could hear freedom calling
So the dried leaves could not stay
And so they joined the dust and wind
In their circular formation
They danced to their heart’s content
As if there were no rules nor regulations

The wind called to the green leaves too
But they had no desire to escape
Because they still had a purpose
And for that, they would remain
For they know when their purpose is fulfilled
They too will be lifted, drifted, and like those before them
With the wind, taken away
